Skiing in Värmland

Challenge yourself on slalom slopes of varying difficulty or glide silently along ski-tracks through a fabulous winter landscape. Värmland offers a number of beautifully prepared slopes and kilometres of cross-country trails for beginners and elite skiers alike.

Branäs – a family paradise

Put simply, Branäs is a well-planned ski resort designed to give skiers the best possible stay. The alpine ski area is large, with 21 lifts to take you up to the 30 slopes of varying difficulty. You choose which slopes suit you best! Branäs offers something for the whole family. Here you’ll find a fun-park with jumps and rails and, not least, an enormous airbag for those whose giant leaps depend on a soft landing. Choose between a cabin, apartment or hotel right by the slopes and allow yourself to be tempted by the fine selection of restaurants high up on the mountain or down in the valley.

Hovfjället’s beautiful landscapes

Hovfjället is one of Sweden's southernmost mountain areas and is a very beginner-friendly ski resort. The 14 slopes are divided into seven green, five red and three black slopes, so there are plenty of challenges for experienced skiers as well as for those downhill skiing for the first time. Hovfjället is a nature reserve and well worth a visit even without skis or snowboards just to explore the outstanding natural landscapes. Take a snow-scooter trip, for example, through the white winter wonderland. The resort offers ski-in/ski-out accommodation from cabins, hostels or camping, but there are also plenty of other options in the surrounding area.

Snowsafe and activities for all

In Värmland you will find world-class ski schools, facilities and accommodation and in many places you can get other winter experiences as a bonus, e.g. dog sled and snowmobile.

World-class cross-country skiing at Långberget

In the northern part of Värmland, Långberget attracts cross-country skiers with its formidable 63 km of well-prepared trails, 8 of which are classified as easy. Långberget is renowned for its world-class cross-country skiing and is often used as a training facility for keep-fit fans and elite athletes who are preparing for tough challenges such as the ‘Vasaloppet’. But don’t worry if you are a beginner. There are plenty of trails in easy terrain that are perfect for a pleasant ski trip with the family. What’s more, both beginners and more practised skiers can learn better skiing techniques from the highly skilled instructors. For accommodation, Långberget has cabins, camping, hostels and hotels - all with fantastic views.

Varied skiing at Valfjället

Valfjället has one of southern Sweden's biggest descents and, with its five lifts and 12 slopes, offers varied skiing for the whole family. Valfjället features a fun-park with Airbag and rails as well as a Ski-cross course that is enjoyed by skiers of all ages.
