Nöjesfabriken – the complete entertainment centre

Just a short walk of about 10 minutes from Karlstad city centre is the Herrhagen district. There, next to the canal, you will find a large building with brown brick walls at the end of the foundry yard. The history contained within the solid walls goes way back in time. Once upon a time there was a metal workshop here. But many years ago it was converted into a large entertainment centre.

Writing that there is something for everyone here may sound like a tired cliché that is a little hard to believe. But it’s actually quite true when it comes to Nöjesfabriken. There is an incredibly rich selection of food and experiences here, so it’s almost hard to grasp if you don’t take the chance to experience it yourself.

Nöjesfabriken delivers sweaty and intense music experiences on its three stages

The music stages here come in a variety of designs and sizes. First up is the main stage in the main hall, where the ceiling is really high. The old metal traverse hook still hangs there from its days as an industrial workshop. And next door is the Crystal Bar, which is a slightly smaller stage with its own bar in the centre. And last but not least, but also really cosy, we have Innergården. It is an outdoor stage that is used extensively during the summer months and in case of bad weather, a roof can be folded out over the spectators. Many Swedish and foreign artists have performed on these three stages thanks to Nöjesfabrikens diligent bookers who seek out everything from well-known radio pop stars to death metal and on to Canadian rock ‘n’ roll and modern hip hop and soul.

Some of the many artists who have performed here are: Morrissey, The Hives, Refused, Snoop Doggy Dog, Wyclef Jean, Markus Krunegård, Veronica Maggio, Danko Jones, D-A-D, Kim Wilde, Alphaville, Graveyard, Cardigans, bob dog, Johnossi, Movits!, In Flames, Backyard Babies, Thåström, Mustasch, LOK, Volbeat, Thomas Stenström, The Sounds, Weeping Willows, Jakob Hellman and many more.

Award-winning nightclub Verket creates energising memories

For those who want to dance and party with their friends, they also have a nightclub called Verket, which has won the nightclub of the year award more than once. Every Saturday starting at 11pm, Verket is transformed into a sea of happy and bouncy people who party with glitter and champagne until the doors close late at night.

Throw darts in a whole new way with Modern Dart

And if you’re looking for a fun activity to do with your mates or family or mother-in-law, there’s plenty to choose from. A concept called Modern Dart is simply a new way of throwing darts, and you can eat and drink while the game is going on. Only with the small detail that you don’t have to do the scoring yourself. The dartboard does that all by itself and shows it on a digital display. So just focus on what’s fun and never get into a discussion about the score…

Bowl with your friends or book a lively bowling party for the kids – you choose!

Nöjesfabriken also has a bowling alley and right next to the 16 lanes there is a well-stocked bar. There you can easily buy a beer or other drink to take to the lane and continue bowling. You can also re-energise yourself with classic dishes that you can also buy at the bar. They also offer very popular bowling parties with burgers for eager and happy children. A perfect way to get the kids active in a fun way and avoid the practical hassle at home.

Spanish savouries in a unique tapas restaurant

What about food, you might ask? Can’t I eat something in the break between all the fun or before everything starts to get new energy? Yes, you will certainly be able to choose from good food and drink. Inside the walls is a tapas restaurant called Cava 42 with an absolutely magical interior. As well as preserving much of the old workshop space to create an authentic atmosphere, there’s furniture and ornaments hand-picked from around the world. You are guaranteed to get the feeling that you are not on Swedish soil when you step inside the walls and take part in Spanish small dishes mixed with Värmland ingredients.

Christmas shows, meetings and fairs in a wonderful mix of opportunities

And it’s not just concerts that are organised in the spacious premises. The Värmland Book Festival returns here every autumn/winter for two days, when lots of book lovers listen to lectures by authors such as Jan Guillou and others and buy books from small publishers. It also hosts record fairs, fish fairs, Christmas parties, Christmas shows and meetings for companies and organisations.

In short – Nöjesfabriken can offer you almost everything

Why limit yourself to one area when you can choose everything? Well, that’s probably the motto at Nöjesfabriken, Karlstad’s large entertainment centre. A warm welcome to experience something truly unique in Karlstad!
