Mariebergsskogen is Karlstad's city park where you can experience animals and nature up close at Naturum Värmland and Lillskogen Zoo. You can explore the playground, the open-air museum and participate in events for all ages. Not only that, but admission is free all year round.
Combine your boat trip with a footbridge walk across the beach meadows
For those of you who want to take a nice and different road to Mariebergsskogen, you can jump ashore at the stop "Mariebergs strandängar" and walk on footbridges, either about 500 meters directly to Naturrum or the entire walking trail of 3 kilometers. Marieberg's beach meadows are nestled between the 400-year-old pine forest and the Klarälven wetland and water.
A good advice is to combine two boat buses and start from Almentorget
If you have a little more time, you can also combine line 91 with line 90. If you start from Almentorget, you will have a wonderful trip through the cradle of Karlstad, the beautiful Sandgrundsudden and not least the opportunity to lock before you reach the Inner Harbour and change the boat bus for the short trip to Mariebergsskogen.
The journey costs only 28 SEK one way and you can read more about how to pay and what times the lines run here:
