Kristinehamn is synonymous with the Picasso sculpture that welcomes travelers on Lake Vänern. Gustaf Fröding was a famous Swedish poet. Here is his poem in Swedish about Kristinehamn.

"Pumpen frusar, 
vattnet brusar dovt och rusar i en så. 
Mitt i torgets solsken solar sig en skock av kjolar och med bytta, 
hink och flaska pigor komma, 
pigor gå kärringar i tofflor traska och med bara fötter kytta töser små

slammer av madammer fjas och fniss av barn och pigor och som gigor, 
horn lurar skvallerskurar föra oljud hela dan.
Gud bevare stan."

Dikten är skriven av Gustaf Fröding och tros ha sitt ursprung från pumpen som fanns på Södra torget när Gustaf Fröding bodde i Kristinehamn 1867 – 1881.
Byggnaden finns fortfarande kvar. Sommaren 2023 är Louisas glasscafé i Torgpumpen.
