sights and activities
Erlanderstigen is an idyllic trail for families with children.
Length: about 1.3 kilometers.
Time: about 30 minutes.
About the trail:
A short walk, starting at Erlandergården in Ransäter and crossing Ranån on an old stone vault bridge. Here you can enjoy cultivated fields with cows, old trees, rodent remains from beavers and a rich birdlife. The trail is easily accessible and ideally suited for the family.
Directions:
From the tourist information, drive south on road 62. After about 9 kilometers turn left towards Ransäter. Continue a few kilometers to the church. Opposite the church is Erlandergården and behind the building you will find an information board about Erlanderstigen.
Nature:
The forest takes care of itself with natural rejuvenation and as a result a lot of dead wood. In Ranån, plenty of water flows throughout the year, so the surrounding environment is moist and shady. The forest is between 80 and 100 years old with rich elements of hardwoods. Here you will find traces of the beaver's work and a rich bird life.
Cultural:
The ancient stone bridge from the 17th century and Erlandergården, birthplace of Tage Erlander.
Some general hiking tips:
-Bring a good map!
-Good/proper footwear! Depending on weather, season and terrain the ground can be wet.
-Cover-up clothing can give good protection against ticks.
-Light packing that contains for example patches, mobile phone and fruit. And don’t forget water!
-Think about the Right of Public Access (Allemansrätten), find out what you can and can not do.
