The main building of the open air museum was once the first school building in the parish, built in 1840. It was originally built next to the church in Lysvik village. The society that owns and runs the museum procured the building and moved it to Berga in the 1980s. In addition to the main building, Lysvik open air museum displays old objects and archaeological findings, antique school supplies and household utensils, and a miniature of a 19th century sawmill. The old-fashioned general store has a unique model of a dragon, that was said to protect the shop from intruders. There is a gazebo from the 1830s that is much admired for its rare architecture. Berga gård also has hostel accommodation.
