Gammelbyn is situated north of the ski resort and nature reserve of Hovfjället, on the slopes towards the beautiful Lake Rattsjön. The holiday village counts 22 Tyrolian style log cabins of 32 sqm, each with 6 beds (2 on loft), pentry, shower, WC, and TV. Two larger cottages have room for 8 persons and 5 persons respectively. Both have a fireplace and satellite TV.
The restaurant and shop are open wintertime. There are conference facilities, sauna and Finnish smoke sauna down at the lake. Groups can book the rustic wooden barn with fireplace for events and parties.
There are many things to do in the area, such as trekking, fishing, hunting, hiking and skiing. Basic cross-country skiing tracks are available close to Gammelbyn, but nearby Hovfjället offers excellent tracks and alpine ski slopes. Good ice fishing in Rattsjön. During the summer, Gammelbyn can be the starting point for hiking tours. You can also hire a canoe and paddle on the lake.
