Norra Gunnarskogleden is an orange-marked quality proofed and certified HIKING VÄRMLAND trail with a start at Larstomta hostel in Gunnarskog. Back to the starting point this tour is about 41 km long. If you prefer a shorter hike you can start at Lafallhöjden and just do the circular trail in the north of about 14,5 km. Lafallhöjden has a parking space for 4-5 cars.
Along the trail you will find a view tower, wind shelters and deserted farms. Several stages of the trail pass by close to lakes and a tarn. A 2 km trail leads from Mörttjärn to the charcoal burner’ cabin where it is possible to spend the night in summer time if available.
The trail is a qualified Hiking Värmland trail (moderate level) and is a combined hiking and biking trail. Therefor be prepared to meet bikers. Hikers go clockwise and bikers counterclockwise on this trail. Please NOTE that when passing through the Natura 2000-area at Lafallhöjden, you need to lead your bike - see special signs posts at the site.
The difficulty of the trail is rated blue by Hiking Värmland standards, which means moderate. The trail is clearly visible and mostly follows along forest paths. The height profile is no problem for a person of average fitness.
Norra Gunnarskogsleden connects to Södra Gunnarskogsleden at Mörttjärn and to Kyrkstensleden at Lafallhöjden.
Service
-In summer there is drinking water at Lafallhöjden, from a tap on the western outer wall of the main building.
-Lafallhöjden and some of the wind shelters have dry toilets.
-Please bring your waste home, but if you can't there is a waste bin at Lafallhöjden and at Larstomta.
