The Älgå nail forge was built in the mid 19th century when it replaced an older smithy destroyed by fire. When cheaper machine-made nails came on the market, the smithy could not stay competitive and it closed in 1879. Älgå nail forge is one of very few preserved nail smithies in Sweden and was restored 2000.
