The naturereserve was founded in 2016 to protect the islands on the eastern part of lake Värmeln which has an unusual ammount of leaftrees and steep barkwood slopes. The natures value is connected to the large amount of islands, old pines along with the buildings which have a lot of history. The naturereserve is located in both Arvika and Kils municipality and can only be reached by boat.
