Arvika Ljus! is an annual light-art exhibition in the town of Arvika . Since 2020, this event takes contemporary art out of its comfort zone and onto the streets, so that art can be for everyone.
The exhibition introduces the annual Scandinavian darkness as the birthplace of light, by inviting the artists to use this darkness as a material. Every year 6-8 artists, both international as well as local, build their installations with the help of local entrepreneurs and the community.
This year's artists are:
Tamar Frank - NL
Fabien Gruau - FR
Anna Lidberg - SE
Lin de Mol - NL
Ilkka Paloniemi - FI
Aleksandra Stratimirovic - SE
Niko Tiainen -FI
Arvika Ljus! 2024 will go on from 1 - 24 November and more information on participating artists and artworks can be found on www.arvikaljus.se.
The installations are lightened up when darkness falls.
Guided tours will be arranged and information on the artworks is presented on Qr-codes beside each work and in flyers distributed in the shops and the Tourist Information Centre.
Arvika Ljus! is arranged in co-operation with Aktiv Arvika and Arvika Konsthall.
