By Car

The old road “Kungsvägen” is now national road 61 and goes through Arvika. If you travel from Norway or Karlstad yoy will travel on road 61 . County road 172 runs from Årjäng. and county road 175 from Säffle.

In Arvika centre and inner city there are 1,600 municipal parking spaces as well as several “private” parking spaces that some larger business chains offer. The parking map shows where the parking spaces in the center are. About twenty places are reserved for people with reduced mobility who has a special permit.
The municipal parking lots are free of charge, but for many of them you must use a parking permit. When you are going to use a parking disc, this is indicated by an additional board to the regular parking road sign.

Long time parking
Parking for more than 24 hours is allowed on marked spots on the parking lot at the crossing Strandvägen/Spårgatan. Here you can park for max 72 hours.

By bus

Timetables, sale points and other traffic on trains and buses available on Värmlandstrafiks website The buses in central Arvika have three regular commuter lines and four flexible lines that are trafficked on call. The commuter lines go to the hospital, Ingesund and Prästängen. Order of demand-responsive services is made on telephone number 0771-32 32 00.

The urban traffic in Arvika is based on three regular commuter lines and four flexible lines with call-controlled traffic.

The shuttle lines serve the hospital, Ingesund and Prästängen. Call-controlled traffic can be ordered on tel. 0771-32 32 00

By train

Arvika’s location along the Stockholm – Oslo railway line provides connections to both capitals. More information about train connections is available at SJs hemsida.
Värmlandstrafik provides connections from Charlottenberg to Kristinehamn.

From the bus stations in Värmland, for example from Karlstad, long-distance buses go to for instance Stockholm, Örebro and Gothenburg. Contact the respective bus company for more information, for example Swebus Express or Nettbuss.

By bike

The cycle path network in Arvika is relatively well developed. There are 35 km of pedestrian and cycling routes in central Arvika and a bicycle map facilitates the bike ride!

By flight

It’s approximately 150 km from Arvika to the international airport Gardermoen in Norway. Karlstad Airport is about 60 km east from Arvika.

By boat

Arvika has Sweden’s “innermost harbour” in connection with the sea, which can be reached through various canal and sluice systems. The waterway and the port have always been important to Arvika and the development of the area. Any commercial boat traffic is currently not available to or from Arvika port, but boating is still popular. Close to the centre of Arvika is a summer open marina with moorings.
