Here, we've gathered ideas and tips for an autumn visit to Arvika – an idyllic town with small-town charm, just a few hours away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

PLACES TO VISIT IN AUTUMN

RACKSTADMUSEUM
Admire top-class art and craftsmanship from the Rackstad Colony! Until 6 October, the exhibition “Moments of Life” featuring paintings by Karin Broos is on display. Starting 19 October, the exhibition “Under the Influence” will feature works by Gustaf Fjæstad, Gunhild Fryklund, Olle Bonniér, and Tommy Krek Svenningsson. Café Elis offers delicious lunch dishes and homemade pastries. Opening hours from 19 September Thursday to Sunday, 11 am – 4 pm. More information here.

KLÄSSBOLS LINEN WEAVING MILL
Klässbols Linen Weaving Mill is Scandinavia’s only damask linen weaving mill and one of the most visited tourist attractions in Värmland. The art of weaving has been kept alive here since the early 1920s. Since then, the mill has grown significantly, becoming a royal purveyor with deliveries to both the Swedish Royal Court and the Nobel Banquet. In addition to finding great deals in the shop and second-hand section, you can also explore the production process at the mill in Klässbol.

ARVIKA VEHICLE MUSEUM
High-level nostalgia! Shiny chrome on cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and even wood stoves. In the beautifully restored former Thermia foundry from 1923, Arvika Vehicle Museum showcases a wide range of vehicles: vintage cars, vintage motorcycles, mopeds, light motorcycles, horse-drawn carriages, sleighs, and bicycles. Starting in mid-October, there will also be an exciting exhibition featuring microcars and motorcycle cars. This is a meticulously curated museum that fascinates not only vehicle enthusiasts.

AUTUMN HIKING
Autumn is a wonderful season to spend time in nature! Magical colors, fresh and clean air, and peaceful silence! In and around Arvika, there are many miles of beautiful hiking trails to explore – suitable for both experienced hikers and families or beginners. To make the hike more engaging for the kids, you can, for example, download nature bingo from the internet or try geocaching as an activity during the walk. A well-deserved break with delicious snacks, grilling sausages, marshmallows, and other treats provides energy and becomes an exciting, nature-close experience. TOWN WALK
Discover and learn more about Arvika on your own or during a guided tour. The tourist office offers a brochure with a tour of Arvika, highlighting many interesting buildings and places. The route follows paved streets in the town center.

ARVIKA SIMMING HALL
The swimming hall offers plenty of fun for the whole family: ride the 55-meter-long waterslide, jump from the diving tower, splash and play in the adventurous Pirate Bay, swim laps in the large pool, or relax in the accessible relaxation area with a sauna and heated therapy pool.

PUMP TRACK
A world-class pump track is located in Jössefors, 8 km west of Arvika. You can navigate it with a bicycle, scooter, inline skates, skateboard, or wheelchair. The pump track is 215 meters long and features large turns, a jump section, and hidden transfers for advanced riders.

ARVIKA IDROTTSCENTER
Want to try something new? Looking for an activity for the family or a group of friends? At Arvika Sports Center, you’ll find many courts for various ball sports, all located in Arvika’s harbor with views over Kyrkviken. Here you can play POP Tennis, futnet, cornhole, floorball, street basketball, pickleball, table tennis, padel, outdoor curling, and badminton. In the lounge, you can socialize, take a break, enjoy a snack, or have a barbecue. Equipment for the different ball sports is available for loan at the arena. Opening hours: May-October 7 am-10 pm. ARVIKA LJUS! 2024
The annual light art exhibition, Arvika Ljus!, showcases light installations by international artists in Arvika’s public spaces from 2-24 November. Darkness should not frighten us but rather be seen as the birthplace of light. Explore the town center on your own once darkness falls, or join a guided tour. Read more about Arvika Ljus! 2024.

FILM EVENING
Enjoy a good film as autumn darkness falls. One of Sweden’s oldest cinemas is located in central Arvika. At Filmhuset Palladium, you can watch Todd Phillips’ “Joker: Folie à Deux” among other films, including a selection of family movies. BASTUBAD
Combine a warming sauna session with a refreshing swim in the lake. At Ingestrand’s camping, you can rent the relaxation area with a sauna for a relaxing and warming experience in the autumn chill.

FISHING – FOR EVERYONE
Head out for a fishing trip before winter sets in! There are many great fishing spots, several of which are accessible for people with mobility impairments. In Glaskogen Nature Reserve, at Övre Gla in Sigfridstorp, a new fishing spot was inaugurated last year that is easily accessible for all. It features several docks and a lovely barbecue area.. BOWLING
Bring the whole family to Downstairs or O’Learys and challenge each other to bowling, shuffleboard, air hockey, or billiards. Good food is available at both locations!

SHOOTING SIMULATOR
Looking for an activity for a group of friends or family where excitement, competition, and food can be combined in a beautiful setting? Try one of Sweden’s most modern shooting simulators in the lovely environment of the Värmland forest. More information here.

TAKE THE TRAIN TO ARVIKA!

Hop on the train in Karlstad, Kristinehamn, or Oslo and enjoy an autumn trip to Arvika. From the station, you can start by exploring Arvika’s charming town centre with its lovely shops. Stroll around the centre, the city park, and the historic buildings at Såguddens Friluftsmuseum. Take a break during the day at the town’s cosy cafes and pleasant restaurants. From the centre, it’s only a 10-minute walk to the Arvika Vehicle Museum, and with bus 50, you can easily reach Rackstad Museum. Of course, you can extend your stay with a night at one of the town’s hotels and visit Arvika in conjunction with one of the autumn events.
