Gällberget is located in a part of Kilsbergen called Fasaskogen. Because of the difficulties with cutting down the forest in the rocky terrain, it has been left untouched by harvesters and chainsaws.
The reserve has many valuable enviroments, different kinds of forests and a large biological variety. There are also many remains from coal beds as well as a crofters lodge. To the west of the lake Gällen there is an old stable and a hut.
In the area there are 70 endangered species that make the forest worth protecting. Among others you can find Clavicorona pyxidata (a kind of fungus), Picoides tridactylus (a kind of woodpecker with three toes) and Callidium coriaceum (a kind of beetle).
