Right next to Filipstads church is Bergmästargården. Built year 1776 since the old homestead for the mine inspector burnt down in the huge cityfire in may 1775.
The year 1835 Franz von Schéele, the founder of Bergsskolan, moved in at Bergsmästargården as the new appointed inspector. The house was also used for Bergskolan until 1847 when the school got its own building.
The famouse landscape artist Ansel Schultsberg live here during the year 1904 and 1907
After Schultsberg, in 1908, ten year-old Nils Ferlin moved into Bergmästargården with his family. The family lived here for one year before they moved following the death of Nils father.
The last mine inspector in Filipstad was Hjalmar Nordqvist who left Bergmästargården in 1937 and in 1944 it was decided that the house would be used as dormetory for the students of Bergskolan
In 1996 Filipstads county bought Bergmästargården and the first floor is today used for restaurant training. While the upstair is still used by students of Bergskolan.
Bergmästargården är byggd år 1776 och är idag ett byggnadsminne, här har både Franz von Schéele, som tog initiativ till Bergslagskanalen och Bergsskolan, och Nils Ferlin bott.
