Art in Grums

The art in Grums shows off an inspiring mix of creativity and local expressions!


Sliperiet

Where and how ant art piece is shown can change how you experience art and Sliperiet is one of the best places to enjoy this cultural staple. In this unique enviroment, cultural heritage meets modern art gallery and gives visitors an experience they won’t forget. Every year a new exhibition is shown and Sliperiet always try to create a blend between the biggest artists in Sweden and Europe and some less known, but equally talented, local artists.


Gallery Mats Bergman

Gallery Mats Bergman, founded in 1984 by Mats Bergman, has developed into an important actor within the art world. The gallery was started in Stockholm byt has since then expanded and opened in Karlstad and Borgvik, Grums. Some famous local artist have been shown here but also some of Sweden´s most popular artists.


Hampus Karlsson’s art studio

Painting has become a central part of Hampus’ expression after he lost his ability to speak and became partially paralyzed in an accident. However, even before that, he was a passionate graffiti artist, creating his works in both legal and illegal spaces. Graffiti, once considered vandalism, now holds an increasingly significant place in the art world. Despite Hampus having formal painting training from Kyrkerud, graffiti remains the foundation of his art.


Ateljé P

Pernilla Carlsson runs Ateljé P in Grums, where her studio also serves as an art gallery showcasing exhibitions of her work. Her watercolor paintings, inspired by the nature of Värmland, are characterized by an abstract and enchanting feel. At Ateljé P, Pernilla also offers watercolor courses and sells art materials, with a focus on watercolor. She has exhibited internationally in places such as Cannes, Paris, Luxembourg, and Monaco.


Mimmi Design

Galleri Mimmi Design offers a unique art experience with its annual exhibitions every spring and summer. Here, a fascinating mix of artistic expressions is presented, offering new perspectives and inspiration. At Mimmi Design, art is also created in the form of linen garments. The exclusive “only one” pieces are handmade in the studio, where the colors are crafted with the same care as an artist blends colors for a painting.


Dunér Art

The artist Kristina Dunér runs her business in Grums and annually exhibits her works at various exhibitions throughout Värmland. Her pieces feature motifs such as food, animals, people, and flowers, and are magically beautiful.


Gallery Strand

Discover Galleri Strand in the charming Slottsbron – an inspiring studio run by the Slottsbron Heritage Association. Here, you’ll experience unique art exhibitions featuring talented local artists, with each piece telling its own story.


Artscape

In 2017, Grums received two murals as part of the Artscape project: Astronomia Nova on Åsgatan 25 by Faith XLVII, and Super G at the Grums swimming and sports center by Robert Forsberg. Faith XLVII celebrates the forces of time and nature, while Super G captures the beauty of water movement. Artscape Värmland 2017 was a major art project that involved 29 artists and resulted in 32 works of art across Värmland.


7 works of art

Grums Municipality honors the beloved artist Sven-Erik Magnusson (1942–2017) with seven artworks placed in various locations throughout the community. The pieces, created by artist Bo Jonzon in collaboration with Sven-Erik’s son, Oscar Magnusson, are a tribute to his memory. Each artwork features lyrics from famous songs in Sven-Erik’s music career. They were crafted by WIPAB in Grums and are now permanent installations at the following locations:

  • The main square in Slottsbron
  • Mickelsön in Slottsbron
  • Liljedal’s hembygdsgård
  • Sveaparken in Grums
  • Segmon’s Folkets park
  • By Borgvik’s church
  • By Värmskog’s café

With its charming atmosphere, Grums offers a place for both art enthusiasts and curious visitors to discover new perspectives and experience the heartbeat of the local art scene.
