This is the only Nobel museum showing Alfred Nobel’s home, the Björkborn mansion, as well as his laboratory where he developed many of his inventions. Next to the museum is Fiffiga Huset, an experimental workshop filled exciting experiments for children of all ages.
The Nobel Museum in Karlskoga is a museum about the inventor, entrepreneur, benefactor and founder of the Nobel prize, Alfred Nobel. Here in Karlskoga, at Björkborn Manor, Alfred Nobel lived during the summers in the latter part of his life. He had bought AB Bofors Gullspång and got Björkborns Manor included in the purchase. He chose to live at Björnborn during his visits to Sweden. Alfred Nobel had a laboratory built close to the manor house where experiments with dynamite and trials with synthetic rubber were done. The laboratory remains and is today an exhibition of Nobel’s experimental and entrepreneurial operations. The manor house displays exhibitions on the man Alfred Nobel. The museum workshop in Karlskoga began in the 1970s with summer exhibitions about Alfred Nobel. In 1982 the Alfred Nobel Björkborn Foundation was created with the museum called Nobelmuseet in Karlskoga. Today the foundation comprises the Nobel Foundation, Karlskoga Municipality, SAAB Dynamics AB and Akzo Nobel AB. The chairperson is the governor of Örebro County.
