Gel plate is a monotype technique that makes it possible to create many layers and unique prints in a simple way that feels like magic.
During three meetings, we will try different ways to build an image with gel plate, both with concrete steps and a freedom to create intuitively. Working with colors and shapes helps unlock the courage to experiment, take risks, trust yourself and the process.
Class content
· We create prints with gel plates based on inspiration from the artist Henry Matisse. Simple and visually appealing forms that Matisse created at the end of his life are perfect to apply for print. We will learn how to work with paper cutouts to create deep prints in many layers and play with color combinations.
· Nature-inspired gel plate prints with objects from the forest. Natural materials (sticks, leaves, flowers, grass) help to create wonderful patterns when printed with gel plate. We will learn to print with plants and create compositions that remind us of the beauty of nature.
· One of the most exciting possibilities that gel plate offers is printing in many layers, creating deep and complex images. But it can be tricky to build layers that work harmoniously with each other and avoid a "chaotic" effect when you don't want it. We try different ways to build multiple layers of prints that complement each other and act as a visual symphony.
