Archipelago area has a total area of about 600 hectares. The whole archipelago is of national interest for its peculiar nature, cultural values and its interesting flora and fauna. Within the archipelago there are several bird sanctuaries.
Vänern is the sea that takes many forms. You will find Europe's largest drinking water supplier, the competition arena for sailing races, sandy beaches and rocks, transport routes and an inexhaustible paradise for kayakers. Luröskärgårdens Natur och Kultur Association has collected some of the great places that they think are worth a stop in Lurö archipelago. Some are more designed for people with yachts / boats and some are better suited for those paddlers who do not need so much water under the keel. Information and maps , note in Swedish
