The wooden church of Östmark was built in the form of a cross, with lying timber. It was inaugurated in 1765. There have not been great alterations to the church since it was built and it is therefore a beautiful and clear example of 18th-century religious art in the region, on the outside as well as on the inside. Only the tower on the westside and the sacristy on the eastside are later additions.
The pulpit dates from the end of the 17th century and came originally from the church of Västra Ämtervik, south of Sunne. Probably, the canopy of the baptistry, which was made in the same technique and style as the pulpit, comes from the same church. The altarpiece was designed by Bror Almqvist in the 1930s. The oil paintings which were included, showing the crucifixion, date from the time when the church was built. The baptismal font was created by the silversmith Sigurd Persson from Stockholm and donated to the church in 1967.
