Winter at Hovfjället

A true ski holiday requires real mountains – and in Värmland, you’ll find one of the southernmost, Hovfjället.

Hovfjället is beautifully located with breathtaking views, 542 meters above sea level, making it highly snow-reliable. The ski resort offers both alpine skiing, cross-country trails, and snowmobile tracks. The skiing is family-friendly and suits both experienced skiers looking for more of a challenge and beginners who want easy and varied slopes. At this snow-secure facility, you can extend the ski season, as 8 km of the trails are illuminated and equipped with snow cannons. There are tracks and routes for everyone, whether you are learning to ski cross-country or training for challenging events and races such as Vasaloppet. If you want to test your skills and endurance, you can choose between various trails, from flat and varied terrain to more demanding, hilly tracks. There are also flatter and shorter routes suitable for those looking for a more relaxed pace, perfect for bringing along a packed lunch while gliding through snow-laden forests and across open marshlands.

Experience Winter in Mattila

Here you will find both tranquility and activities all year round, and in winter, Mattila is a skiing mecca for those who love snow, especially cross-country skiing. Snow-safe Mattila offers well-prepared ski trails in a legendary setting.

Mattila is renowned for its well-maintained ski trails with many loops, both in easy and challenging terrain. It is the perfect place to prepare for the Vasaloppet or simply enjoy nature and recharge your body and soul, something that suits the whole family. During winter, Mattila offers an extensive trail system for skiing, extending all the way into Norway to Løvhaugen and Rotbergssjön. Great effort is put into maintaining high-quality cross-country ski trails for both classic and freestyle skiing, with up to 170 kilometers of groomed trails available at peak winter. The trails are prepared with a snowcat.

Winter at Torsby Skidtunnel & Sportcenter

The area features a total of 50 km of ski trails in varied terrain, ranging from easy to highly demanding, suitable for both classic and freestyle skiing.

Torsby Skidtunnel & Sportcenter offers excellent training opportunities for cross-country skiing but is also a great option for hiking, running, or cycling. The skitunnel is 1.3 km long and eight meters wide, providing plenty of space for both elite athletes and families. By skiing in both directions of the tunnel, you can enjoy 2.5 km of varied skiing. The tunnel always guarantees optimal conditions with a constant temperature of -3 degrees, no wind, and no risk of rain.
