A nature reserve emphasizing the wilderness, located in between Närke and Västergötland. Here you will find vast bogs, rocky terrain and the nutrient-poor lake Gryten as well as forests that have been left untouched by harvesters and chainsaws. This is one of the most sparsely populated areas in Örebro County.
The Reserve was inaugurated in the year 2000 and it is 494,2 hectare of which 77,9 hectare is water.
Fact:
There are watch towers and wind shelter with fireplaces as well as dry wood on the bog. The hiking trail around Vargagryten is 6,5 km long and has two fireplaces.

Drive towards Laxå and Finnerödja and between the two cities, exit E20 to the north-east. The reserve is located approx 8 km west of Laxå and approx 8 km north of Finnerödja. There are road signs to follow on both E 20 and the public road Finnerödja-Åtorp. By the old croft called Högskog, there is a parking lot as well as an information board.
