During World War II (1939-1945) an extensive defense system was built along the Norwegian border, especially in Värmland and Dalsland due to the german invasion and occupation of Norway in April 1940. At the end of the war the system within the Community of Eda consisted of two defence lines, one near the frontier and one some miles eastwards. One of these fortifications, Hultet, is open to the public to visit. Information about the fortification can be found at the location.
