The Nature Reserve Nordsjöskogen has a rich flora of mosses and lichens with the presence of several rare and threatened species.
The reserve, which lies on a slope down to the north-eastern part of lake "Nordsjö", is a woodland forest with significant elements of birch and single willows and gray lilies. In the central parts there are plenty of dying and dead trees as well as coarse fir trees (lying dry trees). Forestry in modern times has occurred to a very limited extent, but traces of picking up exist.
The reserve was formed to preserve a pine forest with unusually rich cryptogam flora, including a number of rare and threatened mushrooms, moss and lichens. The area is part of the EU network of protected areas, Natura 2000.
Animals and plants:
Wildlife encompasses a variety of species that are dependent on old, natural forest-like perennial forest. Capercaillie and Hazel Grouse are often scared during the walk in the reserve. Pigeons hawk in the area and the rich supply of dead and dying trees benefits from the Crows and Woodpeckers. Of larger animals there are moose and probably also bear in the area, as both traces and spills have been found during visits.
