kmThe trail begins in Herrgårdsparken and follows the rapids of the Röjdälven river, which in the 17th and 18th centuries powered ironworks, smithies, and paper mills. It then continues along the shore of Lake Fryken, past the marina and on to the bathing area at Kollsberg. From here, the path climbs up to Kollsbergs Hembygdsgård, where in summer you can enjoy traditional food like motti & fläsk, large waffles, and coffee with homemade pastries.
Continuing through the Kollsberg forest, you pass Bronze Age burial mounds before reaching the suspension bridge over the Ljusnan river. From there, the trail leads through beautiful nature past the riding hall and the Stensgård farm, then under road 239, where the landscape opens into wetlands.
The final stretch of the trail reaches the southern end of Lake Sirsjön, where a cozy beach offers a refreshing swim. On the way to the finish, you also pass Bovilgården before finally arriving at Sahlströmsgården in Utterbyn.
Temporary trail route changes
The pedestrian and bicycle bridge between Torsby and Oleby is closed from 11 December 2023. Alternative route: From Torsby, follow Björnidésvägen, Bergsängsvägen, Olebyvägen across the bridge, and then rejoin the regular trail. Please follow the signage.
Trail Status
Current status: Open year-round, but some sections have temporary rerouting. No winter maintenance.
