Eda fortlet was constructed in 1657 as a defence against Norway and Denmark and was extended in 1676 and 1808. Eda fortlet was the most important defence construction in Värmland until the union with Norway dissolved 1905. When the Swedish/Norwegian union was formed 1814 the fortlet was demolished but was restored again 1939-1949.
