Klarälvsleden

Klarälvsleden – 120 kilometers of bike path along old country roads and gravel roads, with views over the winding Klarälven and the wilderness as a neighbor along the way.

At Uddeholm, Klarälvsbanan transitions into Klarälvsleden. You can choose whether to continue along the river or take a detour and pass through Hagfors on your way north. A few kilometers south of Ekshärad, you pass Sun Dance Ranch, where you can stop for a coffee or treat yourself to a horseback ride. Further north, you will find Profossdammen, where you can fish or even spend the night in a cabin.

The road now winds slowly upwards toward one of the area’s major tourist attractions – the beautiful Brattfallet, with fine hiking trails and a lovely waterfall inviting brave visitors to swim. From Brattfallet, you now have a steep descent down to the bridge to the western side of the river, where the path continues on gravel roads surrounded by beautiful older buildings and large farms.

For those interested in fishing and the development of Klarälven from the ice age onward, a visit to Älvens Hus on the eastern side of the large bridge in Värnäs is recommended. If you need supplies, there is also a small shop at the gas station. The path continues along the western side of the river, and when you reach Månäs, there is a shelter with a grill near the bridge abutment by the river if you need to stop and rest. After a few kilometers, you pass the road leading up to Hjällstad. For those wanting to head to Fryksdalen on smaller roads, this is a good option, but you’ll need a map to navigate if you’re unfamiliar with the area.

Klarälvsleden continues towards Branäs, but before that, you will pass the small nature reserve Knappnäs on the right side next to the river. Just north of Branäs, you can make a detour across the river to visit Utmarksmuseet with Pilgrim Tapestry and Dalby Hembygdsgård. Now the final stage remains to Sysslebäck, where there is much to see and do. Don’t miss Naturpralinen with guided tours in the chocolate factory, delicious pralines, and homemade ice cream.
