In Värmland, there are countless lakes, offering endless swimming opportunities! Here we highlight some of our favorite bathing spots in Värmland - so that you can easily choose where to take a dip during the summer.

Beaches in Arvika

Ingestrand beach

Large beach with sand, green areas, playgrounds, changing rooms, and toilets.
There is also a handicap jetty, ramp, and RWC. The beach is next to Ingestrand Camping, Arvika Mini Golf Park with ice cream cafe, Arvika Canoe & Tourist Center, and several mountain bike trails in Ingestrand Forest.

Klässbol beach

The beach is located next to the boat harbor. Here you will find a sand and rock beach, swimming jetty, changing rooms, and outdoor toilets. Close to Klässbol Linen Weaving Mill and Kaffekvarnen.

Möllebadet in Degerfors

Möllebadet

Popular sandy beach with swimming jetty, kiosk, and toilets. Möllebadet is located on the eastern shore of Möckeln between Degerfors and Karlskoga.

Svartå beach

Scenic beach with a diving tower in Storbjörken just west of Svartå school. Here are WC and changing rooms.

Vadjungens beach

Here you will find a sandy beach, grassy areas, jetty, changing rooms, dry toilet, tables, benches, and life-saving equipment. The beach is located by Lake Vadjungen, along county road 622 about 7 kilometers west of Koppom.

Kyrkviken Hugn beach

Fine sandy beach, shallow and child-friendly with large grass and activity areas. Here are changing rooms, dry toilet, angle jetty, tables, benches, barbecue area, trash receptacles, and parking. The facility is accessibility adapted with a handicapped toilet and ramp. The beach is located by Lake Hugn next to Köla Church in Adolfsfors, along county road 631.

Beaches in Filipstad

Djuprämmen beach

One of the most appreciated beaches in Filipstad’s municipality. The beach is child-friendly with shallow water, there is a large fine sandy beach, and there are good tenting opportunities along the lake.

Talludden beach

The beach has a large sandy area and there are swings, sandboxes, floating jetties, toilets, tables, benches, and trash bins. From Filipstad, drive road 246 towards Hagfors for about 3 kilometers. Turn left at the “Beach” sign.

Skivtjärn beach

Just outside Deje, you’ll find Forshaga’s largest beach. Parts of the summer there is a kiosk. Right next to the beach is the ski lodge with several exercise tracks from 2.5 kilometers to ten kilometers.

During the summer, Skivtjärn’s beach will become more accessible to more people. Here a new parking lot will be constructed, a toilet adapted for wheelchairs will be available on the site, and a ramp leading down into the water will be installed. The work has begun and is planned to be completed during the summer.

Abborrtjärn

In Forshaga, you will find the cozy little beach at Abbortjärn. It’s shallow and the beach has plenty of shade – ideal for families with children. Around the pond, there’s a walking trail of 1.5 kilometers. You can also take the tour around the nearby Sörtjärn, then the walk becomes 2.5 kilometers. Here are dry toilet, barbecue area, and trash bin.

Hasseldalen beach

At Hasseldalen beach there is a sandy beach with a jetty and a diving tower. The beach is located at Långsjön in Grums municipality. In the summertime, a kiosk and service are open next to the beach. When the kiosk is open, there are also toilets and changing rooms. The beach is adjacent to the bike trails Unionsleden and Vänerleden.

Mickelsjön – Grumsfjorden (Vänern)

A child-friendly beach in Slottsbron with something for everyone. Here are both cliffs and a sandy beach with a jetty as well as a barbecue area.

Beaches in Hagfors

Sundsjön beach

Child-friendly municipal beach at Sundsjön north of Hagfors. Here is a jetty, handicap-accessible outdoor toilet, bathing cabins, park furniture, and trash bins.

Lidsbron beach

Wonderful child-friendly beach at Lidsbron, Grässjön, with large green areas. Here are a jetty, bathing cabins, toilets, picnic area with table, barbecue area, and trash bin. Some possibility for the setup of caravan/motorhome.

Beaches on Hammarö

Mörudden and Västra Söön (island)

Mörudden is a well-visited beach with large grassy areas, sandy beaches, handicap ramp, barbecue area, playground, kiosk, restaurant, camping, and toilets. There is plenty of parking. Västra Söön’s beach is located on an island, south of Mörudden. Here is a sandy beach, handicap-accessible toilets, and a boat jetty. Västra Söön is accessible only by boat.

Getingberget

Very child-friendly with a playground and shallow. Here the bathing water quickly warms up on sunny summer days. It is easy to get here by both bicycle and car. Here are toilets, changing cabins, and barbecue areas, and there is plenty of parking.

Räggårdsviken

Hammarö’s gem, Räggårdsviken offers a wonderful cliff bath in Vänern. If you prefer to bathe from a beach, there is a small beach next to the cliffs where it is easy to get in for a swim. There is also a barbecue area and toilets if you want to spend a whole day out on Hammarö’s cliffs.

Karlskoga Strandparken

Located beautifully at Näset, by the shores of Möckeln. In the summer, there is a kiosk and mini golf.
Directions:
Möckeln, 5 minutes from Karlskoga center.

Lunnedet beach

Lunnedet and Knappfors are the outdoor areas for people from Karlskoga and one of Karlskoga’s major attractions with beaches, hiking trails, camping, coffee and food service, and historic cultural buildings by Bergslagskanalen.

Bomstadbaden

A shallow beach at Vänern with a 400-meter-long sandy beach. The beach is privately managed with camping, dining, mini grocery store, toilets, water play area, and a separate dog beach.

Mariebergsskogen’s beach

The beach is part of Mariebergsskogen – Karlstad’s city park, with a lovely sandy beach and large grassy areas. Here are barbecue areas, toilets, changing cabins, outdoor shower, and kiosk, as well as playground, mini golf course, and beach volleyball court.

Skutberget beach

If you’re looking for both cliff baths and a large beach, head to Skutberget, where there’s something for everyone! Play volleyball, disc golf, or take a walk in the exercise trails by the water and in the forest. There are also food trucks and a small kiosk if you get hungry.

Sandvikarna beach – Vänern

A paradise for families with children on Vålön. Sandvikarna is one of the finest sandy beaches in the Vänern archipelago, 10 km south from the center. Here is a shallow beach, playground, outdoor toilets, changing cabin, public information boards, freshwater well, and barbecue areas. During the summer, the tour boat Stöten goes to Vålön from Kristinehamn.

Skymningens beach – Vänern

Beach with two jetties and lovely sun shelves in levels where you have a beautiful view over the fairway into Kristinehamn. Here are also changing rooms, playground, and toilets. Summer-open café with lunch at Kristinehamn’s Manor House Camping.
The beach is accessibility adapted. There is a lift from the sun deck down to the beach, and there is also a steel ramp down into the water.

Hults beach – Vänern

Here you will find a shallow sandy beach, playground, swimming jetty, beach volleyball, barbecue area, and café, about 12 km south of Kristinehamn.

Hästskoholmen beach

Beach with sandy beach and barbecue area on the long narrow island Horseshoe Island, surrounded by historic cultural environments such as the Old Mill and Munkforsen. You reach the beach via a footbridge from the mainland.

Signposted towards Old Mill. County bus line 600 stops at the bus station in Munkfors center, about 1 km from the Mill area.

Beaches in Storfors

Lungsunds beach

Located by Lake Stora Lungen next to Lungsunds Camping. Very nice bathing from jetties and from the beach. Here is dining, toilets, adventure golf, camping, and guest house.

Signposted from Hwy 26, Inland Road, at Nässundet and north of Storfors.

Badsta beach

Some km outside Storfors center by Lake Mjöjsjön you will find Badsta beach. Nearby are also Badsta Camping and Canoe Center.

Bjälverud beach

A couple of miles north of Sunne in Bjälverud, lies RåbyBjälverud’s beach. A beach in North Fryken. If you come here, you are on Fryken’s western shore. Here is a south-facing beach with space for everyone. The docks are in from May and both changing cabin and dry toilet are available for your convenience. During the summers, there is a swimming school here, so many children in the area have taken their first swimming strokes at this beach. 

Beach at Hällsjön in Bäckalund

You almost can’t believe it’s true, how beautifully this beach is situated in the middle of the forest. Here are jetties, changing cabin, and dry toilet. The beach and bottom are sandy. During the summer, there is a swimming school here. If you want to barbecue, there is a fire pit here. Bring your own wood or charcoal if you want to be sure to be able to grill.

Duse Udde beach – Vänern

Great bathing opportunities at idyllically beautiful cliffs and a shallow and child-friendly sandy beach. There is also a restaurant and camping with several activities, as well as hiking and MTB trails.

Strand beach

Fantastically fine beach located by Lake Mellan-Svan in Svanskog. Child-friendly with sandy beach, swimming jetties, and diving tower. Here are large grassy areas for play and frolic, barbecue facilities, and outdoor toilets.

Vallviken in Torsby

Kollsberg beach

City-center beach with jetty and diving tower. The beach is located by Lake Fryken’s northern end near Kollsberg Hembygdsgård, about 1 km from Torsby center. Here is a jetty, changing rooms, and diving tower. The beach consists of lawn and rocks. Inside the jetty, children can swim but it quickly becomes deep.

Vallviken beach

Lovely beach at the northwestern end of Lake Kläggen. Here is a smaller sandy beach, grassy area, changing rooms, jetty, outdoor toilet, and barbecue area. About a km out into the lake, there is an island with several wind shelters and a barbecue area.
