Artscape in Värmland
Through the “White Moose” project, one of the world’s largest art festivals, Artscape, took over the walls of Värmland in 2017. The result can be found in the form of 32 paintings around Värmland, created by 29 artists from all over the world.
Here you will find the artworks painted by the artists during Artscape 2017.
Karlstad
- Drottninggatan 15/Västra torggatan 4, painted by the artist Sagie from Sweden. In Sagie’s expressive work, you can expect everything from cute animals and figures to sleek graphic motifs.
- Styrbordsgatan 2 in Orrholmen, painted by the artist Pantonio from Portugal. Pantonio’s artwork features birds, fish, and other creatures in flowing forms.
- Garvaregatan 9/Fabriksgatan 7 in Haga, painted by the artist Smug from Australia. Known for photorealistic paintings, Smug is considered one of the leading street artists in photorealism. The paintings are humorous mixed with precision.
- Hemvägen 16 in Våxnäs, painted by the artist Henric Thåg from Sweden. Karlstad’s own Henric Thåg works with graphic motifs and often portrays people or other figures in everyday life with an extra twist.
- Drottninggatan 41 B at the bus station, painted by the artist Case Maclaim from Germany, based in Frankfurt. Case is a pioneer in photorealism where the art expresses itself in a universal language aiming to inspire messages of unity and strength.
- River C Hotel in Haga, painted by the artist Hyuro from Argentina. With political themes and subtle sensitivity in dreamlike compositions, Hyuro creates art in the form of illustrative and graphic paintings.
- Studenternas hus on Fagottgatan 70, Kronoparken centrum, painted by the artist Ledania from Colombia. Ledania is one of Bogota’s most prominent street artists and expresses herself through colorful motifs marked by magical and mythological references.
Torsby
- Kyrkogatan 5 and the wall nearby, painted by the Värmland artist Super-G, Robert Forsberg.
- The walls of the cinema Stjärnan on Järnvägsgatan 2, painted by artists Shalak and Smoky from Canada and Brazil. The artist couple Kami and Sasu Hitotzuki from Japan have in turn illustrated and colored Biografgatan 1 A.

Filipstad
- Hertig Karlsgatan 5, painted by the Swedish artist Yash from Gnesta. Yash, alias Linus Lundin, named this masterpiece “Slowing down”.
- The tunnel between Gallerian Näktergalen and Nordström’s shoes was painted as a tribute to Nils Ferlin.
Arvika
- Hantverksgatan 11 and 12b, painted by Wild Drawing from Indonesia and the artist duo Nomad Clan from the United Kingdom. The buildings are next to each other but the paintings are oriented in two different directions where the artists worked with different expressions. Wild Drawing’s painting highlights nature elements in a 3D illusion, and Nomad Clan has worked with surrealism and expressed the local history.
Munkfors
- The facade at Lerinhuset, painted by Annatomix from Birmingham, known for her geometric shapes and various creatures expressing her renowned art.
- The entrance to Ica and Coop, painted by the artist Zadok from London. Zadok is noted for detailed and colorful murals with mystical creatures and beings.
Årjäng
- Storgatan 55A, painted by the artist Smug from Australia. Smug is known for his photorealistic paintings.
- Storgatan 66, painted by Caratoes from Hong Kong. Caratoes’ expression is usually defined as swirling lines and explosive splashes of color with a powerful narrative.
Säffle
- The facade on Bryggargatan, painted by the artist and architect Pastel from Argentina. The wall gable has a blooming motif inspired by the artist’s impressions of Säffle.
- The gable of the community center, painted by Captain Kris from New Zealand. The painting has been inspired by animals and nature but also by the preferences of the residents.

The Värmland graffiti artist Super G has created a work on the sports hall in Grums.
Forshaga
- The sports hall, painted by BKFoxx from the USA, inspired by Värmland’s provincial animal, the wolf.
- The recycling center, painted by Bordalo II from Portugal. With inspiration and materials he collected from containers, he created an artwork where a sculpture and wall painting are combined.
Sunne
- The gable of the Intersport building on Badhusgaveln, painted by Vexta from Australia. Inspired by Norse mythology, it presents “To hold the power of the sky (Freyja)”.
- The gable of the house at Ica on Storgatan, painted by Tatiana Suarez from the USA, inspired by a frog that appeared during lunch.
- Theater Square, the gable of the building that houses Handelsbanken, painted by New Zealander Captain Kris together with the public through a workshop.
Grums
- Åsgatan 25, “Astronomia Nova” painted by Faith XLVII from South Africa. Faith XLVII is known for expressing global political issues and injustices through her art.
- Grums swimming and sports hall, painted by Super G alias Robert Forsberg. The Värmland artist’s painting has associations with the swimming pool.
About Artscape
Artscape is a non-profit organization with the goal of inspiring and highlighting public art for everyone – art should not only be found in galleries and museums.
Since 2014, they have organized street art festivals in about ten Swedish cities where they invite artists from around the world to create art on walls in public spaces.
