In the centre of Karlstad, you can see the famous Swedish poet and writer Gustaf Fröding. The bronze statue was made by the sculptor Herman Reijers.
Gustaf Fröding was a reporter at the newspaper Karlstad-Tidningen and a well-known character in Karlstad. He became even more famous after his debut with the collection of poems called ”Guitarr och dragharmonika”.
The statue can be found in the corner at the Masonic Lodge, where Gustaf often passed by. It was unveiled in 1996.
