During the 18th century the Almen District was one of the most sought after areas in Karlstad to live in. The old tree houses were the only tree buildings that escaped the city fire in 1865. In the Almen District there are many interesting buildings like Doktorsgården, Flachska gården och Landshövdningehuset. You find the Almen District right by the river Klarälven, a stone´s throw from the town centre.
