A political thriller where the original story takes place in less than 24 hours in 19th century Rome and oscillates between love, lust, murder and political intrigue. Under Daniel Kramer's direction, it becomes a contemporary love triangle between the world-famous Floria Tosca, her anti-regime lover, the sculptor Mario Cavaradossi, and the unscrupulous and powerful Baron Scarpia.
Set and costume designer Carlos Soto's beautiful sets and costumes contrast with the dramatic action, which is further enhanced by the dazzling light and brooding darkness of the video projections by Frieder Weiss. The singers, Wermland Opera choir and orchestra are led by Italian conductor Daniela Musca.
