A scenic walk through forest and old summer pasture sites.
Length: about 4.2 kilometers
Duration: about 2 hours
Footwear: Hiking shoes
Color marking: Red
The walk starts at Vågsjöstugan. Follow the gravel road back for a short distance until you see a red-marked arrow on the right, pointing up into the forest. The trail continues through coniferous woodland interspersed with deciduous trees and passes a reconstructed summer pasture cabin. Along the way, you will find several reminders of the summer pastures that once existed in the area.
After the sign Gröna kullen, the trail heads downhill and continues through the forest towards the turning area at the end of Vågsjövägen. From there, follow the gravel road back to Vågsjöstugan.
Around half of the walk is on a gentle incline, while the remainder is downhill or across relatively level ground. The path is narrow in places and winds its way through the forest. In late summer and autumn, there are plenty of opportunities to pick berries and mushrooms along the trail.
The reconstructed summer pasture cabin has an open fireplace and a guest book, with a barbecue available for visitors outside. Barbecue facilities are also available at Vågsjöbastun.
The sauna by Lake Vågsjön is available to hire and can be booked through Munkfors-Ransäter Tourist Information.
Good areas for picking berries and mushrooms.
The trail takes its name from the many summer pastures that once existed in the area. Along the trail, you can see ten former summer pasture sites or remains.
From Munkfors-Ransäter Tourist Information, go straight ahead at the roundabout and continue past OKQ8. Cross the bridge and turn left towards Munkfors Förenings- och konferenscenter. Then turn right onto the gravel road signposted Vågsjörundan. Parking is available at Vågsjöstugan.
