Stories from Stage and Opera

Performing arts offer us something truly special. Through music, song, and the actors' performances, it's easy to immerse ourselves in the lives of others. It's no wonder that we often feel completely fulfilled by what we've experienced when we leave the theater. The experience lingers for a long time afterward. We should simply go to the theater a little more often!

Opera and Storytelling at Wermland Opera

The critically acclaimed Wermland Opera, with its own orchestra Sinfonietta, attracts audiences from afar to its performances. The productions are based on three concepts – opera, musical, and concert. The main stage is located by the banks of the Klarälven River in Karlstad Theater, while the smaller stage is housed in an old spinning mill on Älvgatan a short distance away. The modern conference center Karlstad CCC is also the home stage for Värmland Sinfonietta’s concerts.

Västanå Musik & Teater – Sweden’s Largest Summer Theater

Near the western shore of Fryken, just south of Sunne, lies the Berättarladan, which is the home stage of Västanå Musik & Teater. It is Sweden’s largest summer theater, with seating for about 500 spectators. Colorful performances inspired by folk music, dance, and storytelling are the theater group’s hallmark. Year after year, the barn is filled – it’s important to get tickets early.
