Discover the Green Oasis of Rottneros Park
Here, you will find a green oasis worth visiting again and again. Rottneros is a unique sculpture park with an exciting combination of formal park areas, beautiful natural parks, and innovative garden design. It is a place full of tales and stories, dreams, and visions. Rottneros Manor is Ekeby in Selma Lagerlöf’s breakthrough story *Gösta Berlings Saga*. In the mid-1950s, visionary Svante Påhlson decided to design Rottneros Park to match the Ekeby in the story. Today, the park is managed with the aim of refining the cultural heritage that exists here. Several major events are held annually, including the Garden Festival and the Harvest Festival.

Borgvik – Värmland’s Best Preserved Industrial Environments
Borgvik has one of Värmland’s best-preserved industrial environments. The ironworks that once existed here started in the 1600s, and operations continued until 1925. When the Eiffel Tower was to be built for the World Expo in Paris in 1889, the ironworks supplied the iron. The remains of the ironworks’ heyday are still present, and some of the old buildings now house other businesses. As a result, the area is still alive and attracts many history enthusiasts every year. The large midsummer celebration in the ironworks ruin is a tradition!
Mariebergsskogen – Karlstad’s City Park
Mariebergsskogen, Karlstad’s City Park, is a paradise for the whole family with free entry all year round. Children love Lillskogen with all the farm animals – cows, ponies, pigs, goats, sheep, rabbits, chickens, and ducks. There are also guinea pigs, fish, birds, and ferrets. In the play garden, there are some exciting sound experiments, and near the beach, you can play mini-golf, pétanque, beach volleyball, and street basketball.
In winter, a perfectly sized ice rink is created for children where they can practice skating and make their first spins. During the summer, the round trip train Conrad Höök travels through the park, bringing you close to the beautiful nature with the forest, water, and cultural buildings. The guided tour follows small roads and trails. At Naturum, everyone curious about Värmland’s nature can get a sense of it. From here, it’s easy to continue out into a boardwalk area with a birdwatching tower and a new view of central Karlstad. Marieberg Bay is one of the town’s most popular swimming and ice skating spots. The park also has several cafes offering snacks and lunch dishes.
