In Kristinehamn, the whole family can enjoy summer in the archipelago. Hop on the boat bus and spend a full day on one of the untouched islands.

  • Boat Bus 96 – takes you to sunbathing islands Alvön and Långön. (The boat trip is available only in summer.)
  • Boat Bus 97 – takes you to family paradise Vålön with the sandy beaches of Sandvikarna. (The boat trip is available only in summer.)

In the archipelago, there’s also kayak and canoe rental if you’re up for a paddling adventure. Near the Picasso sculpture, there’s a small strip of beach perfect for water play while parents can relax in a beach chair or explore the sign exhibition about the Picasso sculpture’s journey to Kristinehamn.

Take the family on a fun and exciting adventure. Pedal a railbike on the Trelänsbanan route that runs between Degerfors, Kristinehamn, and Gullspång. Or venture into the forest on mountain bikes, feel the speed and adrenaline on one of the five certified Biking Värmland trails. Perhaps challenge family and friends to a real go-kart race? At Värmland’s go-kart center, you can rent both junior karts and double karts for those who can’t drive themselves.

Stadsbondgården at Östervik – Meet alpacas, horses, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, rabbits, and cats. For the adventurous, there’s a hay tower jump available from May to September. Feel free to bring a picnic, borrow the grill, or purchase something tasty from the café, open during the summer.

Playgrounds in Kristinehamn – Some favorites include the two new playgrounds at Adlersparretorget and Stadsparken, the playground in the archipelago (Vålösundsvägen), the central playground in Järnvägsparken, and the playground at Marieberg you will find on the map from Kristinehamn.se.

Quest: Pirate Adventure – Explore the archipelago through the world of pirates. Solve challenges and fun tasks along the way using QR codes. Suitable for children aged approximately 4-7 years, all you need is a mobile phone.

Kristinehamn Arena – A full day at the arena goes by quickly. Here you’ll find a swimming pool with a stream channel, water slide, and relaxation area. The 6000 sqm indoor playground Lek & Luft is suitable for all ages. Jump around in bounce houses, race through obstacle courses, try out slides, air tracks, and various sports activities.

Konstasken at Kristinehamn Art Museum – Create and craft freely in the museum’s own creative workshop. There are plenty of painting supplies and crafts for creative expression, and of course, you can take your artwork home with you.

Based in Kristinehamn, you’re close to several family-friendly day trip destinations. Stay a little longer and do a bit more.

  • Kulturcentrum Berget, Degerfors. Visit the animals or play indoors in Svingelskogen. Take the hiking trail leading to the Sveafallen nature reserve where you can see giant potholes formed during the Ice Age. Parts of the new film adaptation of Ronja the Robber’s Daughter were also filmed here. Troll walks, café, shop, and flea market finds. Take the train to Degerfors; Berget is a short walk from the train station.
  • Boda Borg, Karlskoga. Form two teams and compete against each other in 25 tricky and exciting quests. Take bus 500 towards Karlskoga (Värmlandstrafik).
  • Tilas Stoll, Filipstad. Walk through a renowned horizontal mine shaft in a Lord of the Rings-like setting.
