Den vita stenen i Mattila

Right next to the Mattila tourist complex is a unique white mythical stone. It is very rare to come across such a large block in nature as the one found in Mattila.

The quartz stone attracts many visitors and is just a part of what the magical Finnskog has to offer. It is said to have magical powers and is beneficial for both body and soul. There are also really nice accommodations here, ranging from old-fashioned rustic cabins to modern cottages, and Mattila has been a tourist facility since 1961, making it the oldest facility in North Värmland.

Finnskogen offers a rich cultural heritage with many Finnish homesteads and other sights. The nature here features high mountains, vast forests, many lakes, and deep valleys. Just around the corner, there are many marked trails and paths suitable for cycling.

In Mattila, there is also a Finnish homestead with a smoke sauna that was rebuilt after the fire in the autumn of 2020. The Finnish homesteads were built in the 1500s by forest Finns, and several of them remain in Mattila. There is also a smoke sauna you can visit, and so-called “Smoke Sauna Evenings” are often organized there.
