Stay idyllically at Sahlströmsgården and enjoy beautiful hiking

Start your hiking trip at Sahlströmsgården! Here, you stay comfortably in hotel rooms in an idyllic setting in Utterbyn, just a few kilometers north of Torsby. The restaurant serves food made from scratch, with a menu adapted to the season. Sahlströmsgården also offers cultural experiences. From the turn of the century onwards, artists and cultural personalities from all over the country gathered here. Not far from here, you will find many wonderful hiking trails, such as Halgåleden, 7-torpsleden, and Hovfjällsrundan.

Hiking on Halgåleden at Brattfallet

Just over a 40-minute drive from Sahlströmsgården.

Halgåleden at Brattfallet is a popular hiking trail, much appreciated for its beautiful nature and historical surroundings. Along the trail, you pass Brattfallet, a 10-meter-high waterfall. The trail offers a magnificent view of the landscape and the Klarälven river.

Hiking on 7-torpsleden

Just under a 40-minute drive from Sahlströmsgården.

7-torpsleden in Lekvattnet has a long history. The trail is approximately 7.9 km long and mainly follows old paths created by the Forest Finns. As the name suggests, the trail takes you past seven homesteads, all of Forest Finnish origin. During the hike, you will also cross the national border between Sweden and Norway.

Hiking on Hovfjällsrundan

Just over a 20-minute drive from Sahlströmsgården.

Hovfjällsrundan takes you around the entire nature reserve. From Björnåsen in the eastern part, you have a beautiful view and pass several forest tarns. At Vadjebergen, the trail leads you through an enchanted old-growth forest where the spruces are covered in beard lichen. In the west, the landscape is diverse with spruce forests, bogs, and rocky terrain.

Stay at Hennickehammar Manor and hike on Järnsjöleden

Just over a 1 hour and 30-minute drive from Sahlströmsgården to Hennickehammar Manor.

Check in at Hennickehammars Herrgård! The beautiful manor house, dating back to the 18th century, along with its environment, history, and ambiance, captivates you in a very special way. Here, you can also try some of the many activities offered or simply indulge yourself with delicious food and stunning surroundings. Enjoy canoe trips, fishing, golf at a nearby 18-hole course, a wood-fired sauna by the lake, or why not treat yourself to an hour in the jacuzzi?

Hiking on Järnsjöleden

25-minute drive from Hennickehammars Herrgård to Bjurbäckens locks, where Järnsjöleden starts.

Järnsjöleden stretches from Bjurbäckens locks, across Lungälvsmossen, along Storlungen, passing Lungsund and Lundsberg, and continues winding all the way down to Hytte and Norsbäcks canal where Järnleden starts.

Relax at the award-winning Selma Spa and hike Sundbergsleden and Gruvrundan

Hiking on Sundbergsleden

Sundbergsleden offers stunning views over Fryksdalen from Klövberget and enchanting old-growth forest. The calcareous soil provides an unusually rich flora and fauna, and seven of the eight native woodpecker species can be found in the area. Sundbergsleden is located in the Sundsberg recreational area, within walking distance of Sunne center.

Hiking on Gruvrundan

30 minutes by car to the Linbanan parking lot, where Gruvrundan starts.

Gruvrundan is one of the most popular hiking trails in Värmland. The trail is 10 kilometers long and offers a perfect mix of nature experiences and cultural heritage sites. The area you hike through is about 35 kilometers northwest of Sunne, where you will also occasionally experience a true wilderness feeling.

Enjoy a Delicious Dinner and Check-in at Stadshotellet Kristinehamn

1 hour and 30 minutes by car to Stadshotellet in Kristinehamn.

Stadshotellet in Kristinehamn, dating back to 1878, is located by the Varnan River, which flows into the nearby Lake Vänern. The hotel’s restaurant offers a varied menu and also has an outdoor terrace open during the summer. Start the next day with breakfast at the hotel and then head to Visnums Kil.

Hiking on Prästöleden

25 minutes by car from Stadshotellet in Kristinehamn to Visnums Kil, where the hiking trail begins.

Prästöleden is located in the northern end of the Nötön-Åråsviken nature reserve. The entire area is a nature reserve and mainly passes through pastures with grazing cows. Along the way, you will also find a lookout tower with a beautiful view over Kilsviken, and a rest area with a scenic view is available at Prästöudden.

  • Difficulty: Easy

Hiking on Nötöleden

Nötöleden is located in the heart of the Nötön-Åråsviken nature reserve, an area known for its ancient oaks, open fields, and lake views. After 1.6 km, you will reach Hästudden, a rest area with a campfire site, benches, tables, an outdoor toilet, and a wonderful view of Lake Vänern.

Hiking on Arskagsleden

Arskagsleden is located in the southern part of the Nötön-Åråsviken nature reserve. Sandholmsudden has a rest area with benches and tables in a clearing in the forest, and from Arskagsudden, you have a beautiful view of Lake Vänern. To the south, you can see Åråsviken, a stunning part of the lake with a labyrinth of small islands and reed beds.

End your day with a good night’s sleep at Clarion Collection Hotel Drott

A 1-hour drive from Visnums Kil to Home Hotel Drott.
