The nature reserve Stenbäcken was formed to preserve a natural forest stream with a unique cryptogam flora (eg lichens, mosses and mushrooms). Characteristic plant and animal communities in the vicinity of the pelvis shall be protected. The reserve will also preserve biodiversity in an area of valuable nutrient forests with leaves and provide good conditions for its typical species. The bedrock within the reserve is dominated by granite with a diabase walk.
At the pelvis there is the EU's richest prevalence of puddle bäckmossa. The species is redlisted in the vulnerable category. In other parts of the area, several red-listed species have been found, mainly among lichens and mushrooms, but here also an artificial vascular plant is growing.
Part of the nature reserve is located within the Natura 2000 area Mögrevsbäcken, which is part of the EU's ecological network of protected areas, Natura 2000.
Directions:
about 4 km north of Gåsborn, on the western shore of lake Mögregen.
