Fishing areas in Ullvettern
Ullvettern Fishing Area is located north of Kristinehamn and includes eight lakes covering about 3,500 hectares of water. The area is part of the Bergslagskanalen, stretching from Filipstad to Karlskoga.
The fishing area includes: Ullvettern, Frövettern, Bergsjön, Hyttsjön, Kväggen, Åsjön, Stora Grytingen and Lilla Grytingen. These are typical forest lakes with rocky shores, reeds, and clear water with a natural brown tint.
Fishing permits
A valid fishing permit is required for all lakes. You can buy it at:
🎫 The permit is personal and valid for hand gear (max 2 rods per person) and day fishing with up to 10 tip-ups.
Fish species and rules
You can fish for zander (gös), pike, perch, burbot and whitefish. In lake Ullvettern, Gullspång trout has also been stocked. Stora and Lilla Grytingen contain pike and perch.
Important rules:
No zander fishing from 15 May to 15 June
Minimum size for zander is 45 cm
Trolling with motor is not allowed
Fishing is forbidden in the Åsjöälven river
Fishing is only for personal use, not for sale
The permit must be carried and shown upon request
Annual permits are valid for families with children, but do not include membership in the fishing association
Tips and respect
Zander fishing in Ullvettern is popular, with reported catches over 8 kg. Show respect for nature, wildlife and other anglers. The area includes both lakes and streams in scenic surroundings.
