About the walking trail:
The walking trail starts by the cottage on Granhöjden which is open all year around here there are a woodenstove and a grill that you can borrow. The trail goes through a beautiful forest with many different kinds of trees and plants.the terrain is hilly with a couple of more requiring hills. The trail takes you up to Boråshöjden were you have a beautiful view over lake Ransjön. On Boråshöjden there is a small cottage where there is possible to stay overnight.
Directions:
The easiest way to reach Granhöjden is by driving south on road 62 from the tourist office and then take a right on road 241 towards Sunne. Take a left onto Bäckarnavägen. Hold right at the crossroads. The road later passes a few houses when the road parts hold right. Here there is a sign that says “Granhöjden” follow it. The road goes between one hose and an outhouse. Later the road parts again and here you hold right. Follow the road to the sign “Granhöjden” that points up towards right. Then you will come to a turning area and the cottage and the walking trail will be on the left side of the road.
Nature value:
You can find many berries and mushrooms during late summer an autumn. Boråshöjden by the end of the walking trail is interesting out of a botanic view it is also a “key biotope” area.
Cultural value:
The walking trail passes several abandoned crofts.
Some hiking tips:
- Bring a good map!
- Good/proper footwear! Depending on weather, season and terrain the ground can be wet.
- Covering clothes that can give good protection against ticks.
- Light packing that contains for example patches, mobile phone and fruit. And don’t forget the water!
- Think about the outdoor access rights. Make sure to know what you can and cannot do.
