About the trail:
The trail starts from the cottage at Granhöjden. After a bunch of pine forests and marshes, the ladder goes down a steep downhill, plunges into hilly terrain with mixed forest and then leads to Skalltjärn, which has clean spring water and very good fishing opportunities, including trout.
The terrain is hilly with a steep hill and the tour goes partly through beautiful old mixed forest with abundant occurrence of berries and mushrooms.
Directions:
Granhöjden can be reached by driving from the Tourist office, south on road 62 and then turning right on road 241 towards Sunne.
Turn left onto Bäckarnavägen. Keep right at the T-junction and follow the gravel road. Keep right when the road divides. Follow the road to the sign "Granhöjden" which points up to the right, follow it and go up the road to the turnaround. The cottage and the trail are on the top left, and there is signs with Skalltjärnsrundan on the information board.

Berries and mushrooms. The place is recommended during spring and summer for the botanically interested hiker.

The cottage at Granhöjden is open all year. There is a wood stove in the kitchen and guest book in the room. Outside the cottage there is room to sit around a fireplace. At Skalltjärn's beaches there are several small wind shelters and barbecue areas.
Fishing in Skalltjärn requires a fishing license.
Some hiking tips:
-Bring a good map!
-Good/proper footwear! Depending on weather, season and terrain the ground can be wet.
-Covering clothes that can give good protection against ticks.
-Light packing that contains for example patches, mobile phone and fruit. And don’t forget the water!
-Think about the outdoor access rights. Make sure to know what you can and cannot do
