The terrain is hilly with a steep hill and the tour goes partly through beautiful old mixed forest with abundant occurrence of berries and mushrooms.
Granhöjden can be reached by driving from the Tourist office, south on road 62 and then turning right on road 241 towards Sunne.
Turn left onto Bäckarnavägen. Keep right at the T-junction and follow the gravel road. Keep right when the road divides. Follow the road to the sign "Granhöjden" which points up to the right, follow it and go up the road to the turnaround. The cottage and the trail are on the top left, and there is signs with Skalltjärnsrundan on the information board.

The path crosses several ruins
