Total length: 12
kmHovfjällsrundan is a varied and demanding hike where you get to experience the entire unique landscape of Hovfjället. In the eastern part of the reserve, you’ll reach Björnåsen, where you can enjoy sweeping views over the wilderness. At Vadjebergen, the trail leads through an enchanted old-growth forest, where the spruces are draped in beard lichen. The forest feels untouched and fairy-tale-like, but the terrain is at times very steep and can be challenging to navigate.
The trail passes several forest tarns, including Råkullstjärn, where you can take a break at a peaceful and magical rest spot. In the western section, you hike through a varied landscape of wetlands, spruce forest, and rocky ground. At the Bondfugestorp rest cabin, a historic summer pasture cottage, the meadows are mowed every year to preserve their rich wildflower flora.
You can end your hike with a visit to the lookout tower at the top of Hovfjället, where one of the best views of the rolling landscape awaits.
