Kristinehamn Waterfront Promenade

Walk or cycle along the approximately 4 km long waterfront promenade by the Vålösundet strait, which flows into Lake Vänern. It’s a pleasant route where you’ll pass both modern and traditional archipelago houses, barbecue areas, and—during summer—motorboats and sailboats moored along the many docks. You’ll also pass a campsite with modern cabins, as well as several restaurants and cafés along the way.

Eventually, you’ll reach Picasso Point, where the world’s largest freestanding Picasso sculpture awaits. The sculpture, named Jacqueline after Picasso’s wife, has stood proudly for 60 years, welcoming boaters to Kristinehamn. Nearby is also Picasso Park, where you can walk the 2.5 km circular trail Jacqueline’s Nature Trail. The trail takes you through both forest and residential areas – ending with a magical view over Lake Vänern’s uninterrupted horizon at Fyrparken and the Southern Point.

Watching the sun set over Vänern’s endless horizon is a magical experience.

Magical Vänern Views

There are many viewpoints offering sweeping vistas of Lake Vänern. We’ve gathered several of them in a map to help you easily plan your next outing. Pack a picnic – or something to grill at one of the designated fire pits – and enjoy the sunset over Vänern.

Rent a motorboat using your phone via Våg and head out on an adventure!
